Welcome back Eagles!
We have been working all summer to get the building ready; we have updated some systems; and our teachers have been attending a variety of trainings. All of this should make for a great start to the year.
There will be some new faces among staff members and many returning staff members in new positions. I am one of them as your new principal.
I am deeply honored to be a Centennial High School. I have spent 15 years in education and eight years in administrative positions. Before that, I taught Physical Science, Ecology, and Sheltered Physical Science. I also worked in a behavioral intervention program for kindergarteners and first graders. I have always worked in school districts with diverse populations. I learn from the different cultures and ethnic groups I encounter. My life is much richer for it. Along the way I have learned to speak Spanish as well.
There is a reason that I come to work everyday, and that is the students. I love working with high school students. They accomplish incredible things in the classroom, on the athletic fields, in the theater, and in the community. I also have learned that they have an astounding capacity for change, kindness, growth, and forgiveness. I learn so much by working with high school students, whether its bits of pop culture or how thin film organic solar cells are going to work. Our world is going to be a better place due to our students.
This summer I have worked to get to know the staff at Centennial High School and I have found them to be incredibly dedicated to the students in this community. They are also very supportive of each other. The students and staff of Centennial have a long list of accomplishments. Centennial is truly one of the best comprehensive high schools in the state of Oregon. I am proud to lead Centennial High School.
I am looking forward to meeting our students, parents, and community members.
This is going to be a great year.
Once an Eagle, always an Eagle.
